S/V Aldo – 1958 Folkboat – US54

(Known as Meriwether when raced in SF)

Location: Sitka, Alaska

Aldo is in very good condition, well-equipped and rigged for cruising. See a thorough description, equipment list and many photos at Aldo’s website:

In the early 1990s, Aldo was rebuilt by shipwrights at the Port Townsend Shipwrights co-op and sailed to Sitka. Since 1998 the present owners have used Aldo for cruising all along the outer coast of Southeast Alaska. The sails have great profile; auxiliary power is a 5-hp, 4-stroke Tohatsu outboard.

A recent survey is available. Summary: “Very good overall condition, with restored decks, newer rigging, good sails, and summer and winter covers.” The valuation is $12,500 (our asking price) for the location in Sitka, or $20,000 if it were in Puget Sound. The replacement value is $52,000.

The mast is presently being refinished. Aldo will be ready by mid-July for you to sail away to your home port.
